fishy

a good friend got a fish for the boys. g decided to name it "dorothy" like elmos' fish, although he is upset that it is not orange like elmos'. i think it's a nice choice of a name, since he named our last fish "bird". he would say "hi bird. my name is gavin." a few times a day. bonkers. it's a pretty cool beta fish, and has lasted 2 days so far. i am keeping my fingers crossed on this guy, as i don't have much luck with fish. at least they are cheap to replace at walmart.

and i am LOVING this stuff.

i got 2 plates and 2 bowls for the boys at the Crate & Barrel outlet, and had to restrain myself from getting more. it's made by Zak Designs and it's like melamine, and so fun! we got green and orange. and bonus is that it's made from 100% recycled materials. and now that i see how expensive it is everywhere else, i just might have to go get a little bit more....

There are lot of myths about betta fish that unfortunately shorten their lifespans. (They can live for years.) Betta fish enthusiasts recommend at least a 2.5 gallon tank with a heater, as bettas are tropical fish who prefer 78-80 degree water.

Some great links.

Sorry, I found your blog through a google search for betta fish.

Those are just links to helpful betta fish sites. *shrug* You can run them through a google search, if you want... sorry, I didn't mean to freak you out.

Thanks for the comment Rose. Just wanted to put in a plug for the Beta. We had them on all the tables at our wedding reception, and we kept one and it last 2 years. It was blue like yours. I miss the little guy.
