so proud

for the last month, i've been teaching gavin how to dial 911. i figured he should know this since aaron is gone on overnights a lot. i explain to him that if i get hurt or the house is on fire that he needs to dial "9, 1, 1, green button" (which is to dial the phone) and the firemen, police and ambulance will come and help us. i also say that you NEVER push the green button unless something is really wrong, and he is really good about pushing 911 and that's it. well........ this morning he decided to show me that he can do it, and he actually dialed it, and pushed the green button. i saw it was ringing, and hung up (dumb thing to do). it took about 30 seconds for them to call back and find out what was going on. i told her that he was 3 & 1/2, and i was teaching him how to do it and nothing was wrong. 10 minutes later, a sheriff knocks on the door to make sure everything was ok, and i wasn't lying to the operator. he said it happens occasionally with kids playing on the phone. but old people with the big button phones accidentally push the emergency button a lot.
on one hand i was totally embarrassed, and the other hand, SO proud that my three-and-a-half year old knows how to dial 911. you never know when something is going to happen...

We're trying to teach Shailey how to dial 911, too. I'm so worried that she's going to dial it and the same thing is going to happen to me!
